Kalady is an important pilgrimage center since it is the birthplace of Sri Adi Sankara. Kalady is also famous for ayurvedic treatments and pilgrimage temples. Kalady is an important stop in way of Sabarimala Pilgrimage. Mainly a tourist place here , you will not find many things to do here. You can go for Ayurvedic treatments which this town is famous for. Some of the things you can do in the city are-

Sree Adi Shankara Keerthimandapam– Kalady is the birth place of Shree Adi Sankracharya where he mastered vedas and performed miracles. There is a shrine of Adi Shankra on the bank of River Periyar. Crocodile Ghat is also nearby the temple in the river.Sri Adi Sankara Keerthi Sthambam is also located nearby 8-storey-high brilliantly painted pink memorial.

Ayurveda– Kalady is home to some of the authentic and ancient form of Ayurveda. Nagarjuna Ayurveda Center is named after Buddhist Scholar who introduced metallurgy and chemistry in Ayurveda and revived the ancient Ayurveda in it.

Kuzhippilykavu Jaladurga Temple– Dedicated to Goddess Durga it is built in such a way that it get submerged in every monsoon.

Elephant Training– Elephant Kraal located at Kodanad i place where elephants are trained , It is also animal rescue center.
