Kozhikode

Kozhikode was at one time the capital of the powerful Zamorins and a prominent trade and commerce center, Kozhikode was the most important region of Malabar in the days gone by. Today, lush green countryside’s, serene beaches, historic sites, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, hills, a unique culture and a warm, friendly ambiance make Kozhikode a popular destination.The city had trade relations with the Asian, African and Middle East countries.
The district found a place in the World History with the discovery of Sea Route to India in 1498 by the Portuguese Navigator Vasco Da Gama. He landed at the Kappad sea shore with three vessels and 170 men. A monument is constructed here to commemorate the historical landing. Kozhikode is a historical town with a hoary past. From time immemorial, the city attracted travelers, with its charming physical features and prosperity.

During classical antiquity and the Middle Ages, Kozhikode was also known as the "City of Spices" for its role as the major trading point of eastern spices. The district was also a famous cotton-weaving center, gave name to the Calico cloth. Kozhikode or Calicut is situated in the south Indian state of Kerala on the southwest coast of the Arabian Sea. The city offers various hotspot tourist destinations , historical sites, temples and many more place worth visiting.

Kozhikode Weather and Best Time to Visit

Kozhikode lies in the state of Kerala. The weather is overall pleasant in these parts of Kerala although humidity might be something that bothers. Summers in Kozhikode are pleasant with temperature rising up to 33 ‘C plus. The winters are also pleased with average temperatures being around 23 ‘C. The best time to visit Kozhikode would be anywhere between the months of September to March.
