Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple

Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple is an ancient and oldest temple in Kerala. The temple is situated in the Ernakulam district of Kerala in south India.The temple is situated in the village of Akaparambu between Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankara and Aluva. Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple is constructed mostly for the Hindu religious person. The temple is dedicated to workship the goddess of lord Bhagavan Sivan and lord Bhagavan Ayyappan. The Pooja is performed by all devotees together with “Melsanthi” by chanting the Lalitha Saharanamam. The aim of performing Pooja is to supposed to bring prosperity and good health to those who perform it.

Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple History

It is believed that Villwamangalam Swamiyar had appeared Devi at this place hence the hillock where the temple is situated is known as the name of “Thiruvillvuam Kunnu”.The Ashtamangalya prasna conducted that the temple is around 1600 years ago.After the killing of Darika, the mighty Asura, Devi Bhadrakali in her fierceful form met Lord Shiva. This form of Devi is the concept of Pratishta.The presence of Lord Shiva and Sastha were found later on this place after that incident devotees started worship to Lord Shiva and Sastha. A Thambula Prasna was conducted in the year 2007.It has accentuated that the the need of Prathishta of Brahma Rakshas and Naga Sarppam in the temple introduced and it is done with thanthric rituals in October 2008. Prathishta of both these deities were done on September 18th 2008.

Festivals and Architecture of Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple

Ganesolsavam Festival is celebrated on Vinayaka Chathurthi.On this auspicious day Ganapathy Homan is performed by the Thanthri of Temple for the blessings of Vinayaka.Mandala Poojas & Ayyappan Vilakku is also celebrated in holy 41 days of Mandalakalam.On this auspicious day workship are done of lord Ayyappan. Ayyappan Vilakku is conducted on the first Saturday of Vrischikam.Pongala and Thrikarthika Vilakku. Festival is conducted in thrikarthika of Vrischikam month.The Pongala celebration is done with the active participation of women folk of Akapparambu.In the evening entire temple is decorated with traditional clay lamps on the occasion of Thrikkarthika Vilakku.The yearly Ulsavam is celebrated on Bharani Nakshatram of Makaram month.The pathamudaya maholsavam is conducted with thantric poojas and Annadanam.Eravikulangara Bhagavathy Temple Architecture style is ancient Style of Kerala Architecture. The temple wood carvings is ausum and wall painting is imagination of thoughts.
Darshan Timing:At Morning: 5.00am to 8.00am and At Evening: 5.00pm to 8.00pm.
