Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple

Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple was developed by the Sree Narayana Guru Swamikal in the year1904. The Temple is Located in Palluruthy Village, Ernakulam District in Kerala State of south India.Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple is dedicated to workship the lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu with equality.Sree Narayana Guru was the great saint, sage person and social reformer of India.The temple is owned and managed by Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam. Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam was founded in 1904 with the guidance and blessings of Sree Narayana Guru.Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple is the first temple of the backward classes to have a Golden Mast Swarna Dhwajam.The administration of the temple is under the Manager, Devaswom.

The Sree Dharma Paripalana Yogam was founded in 1904 with the guidance and blessings of Sree Narayana Guru.The SDPY is a charitable society working for the spiritual and educational uplift of the Ezhava community for the past 102 years.The main institution under the SDPY is the Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple. The temple is being administered by the Sree Bhavaneeswara Devaswam .The deity at the temple is Lord Siva was consecrated by Sree Narayana Gurudevan on 8th March, 1916.After the ceremony, Sree Narayana Gurudevan laid the foundation stone for the Lower Primary School under the SDPY. Blessings of Gurudevan is the motive force behind all the developments under the SDPY.

Festival and Architecture of Sree Bhavaneeswara Temple

There are many festival celebrated with lots of happiness and full dedication.Among them there is mahotsavam Grand festival is celebrated every year during the month of February-March for eleven days. Commencing with flag hoisting and fire works on the 1st day, Pooyam Kavadi procession on the 8th day, Pallivetta on the 10th day, the festival concludes with Arattu on the 11th day.Sri Narayana Jayanthi and Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi birthday are also celebrated at the temple.On Sri Narayana Jayanth the great reformer was born hence birthday of great saint is celebrated on the Chathayam asterism of the Malayalam month of Chingam .On the auspicious occasion of Gajapooja where 108 elephants were presented in ornamental items with traditional percussion did even attract the international media.Almost all renowned artists and masters have performed on the stage on special occasion. The Architecture style of the temple is moderated style of Architecture.There are many shrines constructed for people who workship the god Shiva and Vishnu.The wood carvings inside the interior wall fascinate the tourist toward itself.there is no pond and tank for the devotees to take bath before to workship the god.
