Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharma Sastha temple is one of the most prominent temple in the royal city of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala state of India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ayyappa worshiped as Dharma Sastha. The temple is run and owned by Uranma Devaswom Board.All the affairs are managed by Thamaramkulangara Ayyappa Seva Samithy.Besides Dharmasastha devotees also worship Lord Ganesha and Bhadrakali along with Nagaraja and Brahmasrakshas. Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple celebrates many festivals apart from Makaravilakku such as Dwaja Prathishta Dinam, Sasthaam Paattu , Karkidaka Niramala, Navarathri and many more.There is a clean well maintained fresh water pond which spread over more than one third of the total area of the temple precinct.

Pooja Timing: At Morning: 5.00am to 10.00am and At Evening: 5.00pm to 8.00pm

History

The Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple was initially owned by Morakkala Mana but the prosperity of family was Invited and and affairs were in question day over day. The high priest eventually approached the Maharajah of Cochin and handed the temple over to him in 1930s. The King ordered the renovation of the temple and the Nithya Nidhanam means daily pooja was furnished by Nadumittom Devasom. Kerala state of affairs continued with minor changes until the Fall of the Kingdoms when India got freedom. Again the temple affairs was in disorder.In 1953 the youth came together around the temple for the betterment of the temple to restart the temple festival.This movement involving in many activities and events that strengthened up with time . In the year of 1963 all theses people was formed the Thamaramkulangara Ayyapa Seva Samithy (TASS). In 1984 with others, the temple was transferred to Kerala Uranma Devaswom Board.

Festival and Architecture

There are many festival is celebrated in Thamaramkulangara Sree Dharmasastha temple. Makaravilakku is the annual festival of temple.It comes in the month of January every year respectively.Dwaja Prathishta Dinam is the anniversary of the erection of the Holy Flag Post in the temple. It is celebrated every year on Meenam 11th as per Malayalam calendar. Painguni Uthram is the Birthday of Lord Sree Dharmasastha is also celebrated in this temple.Navarathri is celebrated in the temple on the Durgashtami, Mahanavami and Vijayadasami day every year with cultural program-mes .Mandalavilakku occassion is celebrated on the 41st day of the Mandalakaalam.Sasthaam Paattu occasion is Performed on the first Saturday of Vrischikam month as per the Malayalam celender.Its a musical art in which a team of people sings the songs praising Lord Ayyappa.On Karkidaka Niramala special occasions the temple is decorated with different types of flowers and traditional oil lamps.It is celebrated at the last day of the Karkidakam month.The Architecture struture of the temple is simple and Traditional Kerala style of Architecture.

By train: Thrippunithuram railway station is 1km away from the temple, Eranakulam Jn Railway Station 6km away from the temple.

By bus: Eranakulam Bus station 6km away from the temple and 9km from kochi bus Station.

By Flight:Thiruvananthapuram International airport is nearest Airport to reach the temple and Kochi Airport is 26km away from the Thiruvananthapuram
