Chimmony Dam

Chimmony Dam is located in Echippara in Thrissur District of Kerala. The dam is built across Chimoni river and the construction of the dam was completed in 1996 . Dam is surrounded by lush green dense forests and offers beautiful view of greenery of Kerala State. Chimmony Wildlife sanctuary is also located nearby Dam which was established on 1984 on the western slopes of Nelliyampathi Hills.

Chimmony is an important bird area with 192 recorded avian species , a paradise for bird watchers. The sanctuary also offers great trekking routes and jungle safari . The sanctuary also offers trekking paths for the adventure traveller. The sanctuary consists of the watershed areas of Kurumali River and Mupliam rivers. Some of the endangered bird species can be spotted here like grey-headed bulbul , Indian rufous babbler , and white-bellied blue-flycatcher .
