Cheraman Parambu Kerala

Cheraman Parambu is an important Muziris Site sprawling over an area of about 5 acres at Methala is located in Kodungalloor Taluk of Thrissur District of Kerala. It is regraded as royal seat of the Cheraman Perumals from Chera Dynasty who ruled Kerala during the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries A.D. This site was declared as protected monument by the department of Archaeology in 1936.

During excavation on this site various kinds of potsherds, copper and iron implements, bangles and beads and small lead balls were found of which many were from the period of between the 10th and 12th centuries AD. It is located at Kodungalloor-Moothakunnam route about 3 km from Kodungalloor which used to be the headquarters fro Chera Dynasty.
