Lakkidi

Lakkidi is a town that is situated in the Wayanand district of the state of Kerala at height of 700 meters above sea level. The town is credited as the second wettest place on earth. There are a few places that one can see in and around the town and the main attractions in the place are mountain peaks, dense forests, and beautiful streams, pristine views and pleasant climate. The natural beauty of the town is still relatively untouched and one can find a peaceful atmosphere here.
There are many viewpoints that are located around the town and many visitors can be seen at these places.

You can indulge in activities like bird watching or spotting wild animals in nearby Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. Numerous waterfalls that are located here as well and these are good places for picnics. Lakkidi is a real paradise for adventure lovers and sports enthusiasts offering trekking, hiking, camping and boating.Surrounded on all sides by meadows and hills, it has become a favorite picnic spot.

Lakkidi is connected to outside world via roads, rails and air with better services. The best time to visit here is between the month of August and March. This hill station is home to many popular resorts, so you need not to worry about accommodation facilities.

How To Reach Lakkidi

Lakkidi is the gateway to Wayanad district located about 58 Km from Kozhikode district. Vythiri one of the another popular hill staion of Wayanad is located about 5 Km from here.

By Road– From Wayanad one can take route of Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Hwy or Vythiri -Tharuvana Rd and Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Hwy or Kozhikode-Mysore-Kollegal Hwy and SH 54. It is located about 29 Km from Wayand city center.

By AirCalicut International Airport is nearest to Wayanad and Vythiri .

By TrainKozhikode Railway Station is the nearest railway station.
