It is believed to have been constructed around the 13th century.Tippu Sultan used this temple as his Battery for his army and hence it is also known as Tippu’s fort. During Tipu Sulthans invasion in the 18th century an imposing fort was built here but unfortunately no remains of it stand today.Sultan Bathery is an ancient historical place The history of Bathery has linked with Wayanad.The wayanad history started before 3000 years ago when early man was started.
