Mannarasala Temple

Mannarassala Temple or Mannarassala Sree Nagaraja Temple is a very ancient and internationally-known center of pilgrimage for the devotees of serpent gods. The snake temple is very famous temple of Kerala visited by thousands of pilgrims every month. Temple has more than 30,000 images of snakes along the paths and among the trees. Women’s from all over come here for seeking child and after there wishes are accomplished they return for offering to Serpent God and offers new snake images to temple. Temple is also famous fro a turmeric paste that is known for its medical properties and curative powers.

The most celebrated festival at Mannarassala is the Ayilyam of Thulam. Ayilyam day in Tulam, Kanni and Kumbham months in the Malayalam calendar and the Mahasivarathri are celebrated here with great pomp. The Ayilyam in Kanni is the birthday of Nagaraja and that in Kumbham is the birthday of Anantha, the Muthassan of Nilavara (cellar).

How to Reach Mannarassala Temple

Mannarassala Snake Temple is located about three kilometers to the south-east of the bus station in N.H.47 at Haripad, in Alleppey district of Kerala.

By AirCochin International Airport is located about 115 Km away from here while Trivandrum Airport is about 125 Km away.

By Train– Haripad Station is located about 3 Km from Mannarassala and Kayamkulam Station about 11 Km .

By Road– Haripad is located about 3 km from here which is well connected via towns of Alleppey district .
