Mambazha Pulisherry

Mambazha Pulisherry is a traditional Kerala dish which is prepared with ripe mangoes, grated coconut and yogurt. this Dish is also known as Ripe Mango Curry . Pulisherry Dish is Sweet and Sour in Taste . It can made with pineapple, ripe /over ripe mangoes or plantain . Pulissery is an integral part of the Sadhya/feast Menus in most parts of Kerala. Pulissery is a close cousin of Moru Kootan. This delicious curry can be served as a side dish with rice.


Ripe Mango 4 (small) cut in to pieces
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Sugar 3 tsp
Jeera 1 tsp
Green Chili 4 nos.
Grated Coconut 1 cup
Yogurt A few
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Curry leaves few
Methi Seeds tsp
Dry Red Chillies 2 nos.
Salt to Taste
Oil 1 tsp

How to Make

  • Cut the Mango into Small Pieces
  • Boil the Mango in a Vessel put 1/2 glass water in it
  • Add Turmeric Powder, Sugar and Salt
  • When the water evaporates , Pour the Coconut, Jeera and Green Chili Paste.
  • Pour the yogurt into this Paste after boils it and Mix well
  • Once the yogurt is Poured at a low flame mix well
  • Remove from flame after this Boils Completely
  • In a pan fry mustard seeds, methi seeds, red chili and curry leaves.
  • Pour this over the earlier prepared curry

Mambazha Pulisherry is ready to Serve with Rice
