Pachadi is a part of the Traditional Kerala Sadhya. Pachadi is a very delicious and exotic dish which has a sweet and and tangy taste . Pachadi is commonly eaten with rice and a lentil curry. It is made of fresh vegetables and sometimes vegetable Peel is also used such as the peel of Ridged Gourd .Pachadi Dish is served with rice, snacks like idli, dosa, and pesarattu . In the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu Pachadi is eaten fresh and typically made of finely chopped and boiled vegetables with Coconut , Green and Red Chillies .
Ingredients
Raw mango/Cucumber | 1 – 2 cups |
Turmeric powder | 1/4 tsp |
Grated coconut | 3 tbsp |
Cumin seeds(Jeerakam) | 1/2 tsp |
Green chillies | 1-2 no |
Mustard seeds | 1/2 tsp |
Curry leaves | A few |
Dry red chillies | 2 – 3 nos |
Curd/Yoghurt | 1 cup |
Salt | as needed |
Sugar | to taste |
How to Make
- Cook the vegetable in water by adding turmeric powder and salt.
- Grind together the grated mixture of coconut, green chillies and jeera seeds
- Add this mixture to the cooked vegetable and cook again till raw smell of the coconut goes and all the water evaporates.
- Add sugar if the sweetness is not enough
- Heat oil in a Pan after that
- Add splutter mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilly and pour it to the mixture.
- Allow this mixture to cool.
- Finally add the yoghurt into this mixture and mix well.
Delicious Pachadi is ready to Serve with Rice
