Rasam or Saaru is an South Indian Soup traditionally made up with tomatoes , tamarind , Onion , Green Chilli and lentils .Tomato Rasam is a quick and easy recipe to make . Rasam is Served with Rice and Some People like to drink rasam as a soup. There are different kinds of Rasam is Made in Kerala among them is Thakkali Rasam , Inji Rasam , Tamarind Saaru , Parupu Rasam , Lemon Rasam and Murungai Poo Rasam etc


Tomato Medium Size 3 nos
Tamarind(Puli) juice 1 tbsp
Garlic pods 2 – 3 nos
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Rasam powder 2 tbsp
Curry leaves A few
Coriander leaves A few
Oil 2 tbsp
Water 3 cups
Salt As needed
Dry red chillies 1 no (broken into 2 pieces)
Mustard seeds 1 tsp

How to Make

  • 2 tbsp of oil Heat in Heavy Bottom Pan
  • Add Crackle Mustard Seeds , Saute for a while and Red Chillies
  • After that Add crushed garlic and stir for few minute.
  • Add Chopped tomatoes and salt and stir till the tomatoes blend well.
  • Add Turmeric and rasam powder and stir for a few seconds.
  • Add the Tamarind Paste and mix well.
  • Add Curry leaves, Coriander leaves and water.
  • Boli Rasam on low flame for 7 – 10 mins.
  • Finally, you can sprinkle Rasam Powder in Rasam Curry

Rasam is ready to Serve with Rice
