Aluva Formerly known as Alwaye is an important town in suburbs of Cochin City of Kerala. Known for large river banks of Periyar River it is has historical importance . It is famous for temples , festivals and mighty Periyar river. Tourist here can go for sightseeing and visiting famous places in the town , there is no beach or backwaters where one can indulge in.
River Periyar – Its a must visit place in Aluva that has long smooth stretch in the town , banks of this river have many temples, mosques, and churches. Place away from busy city life , ideal place to take a walk in proximity of calm and serene surroundings.
Shiva Temple – Located in Manalpuram Road Aluva . There is no formal temple structure, rather a make-shift structure made out of weaved palm leaves and bamboo sticks.
Marthanada Varma Bridge– Icon of the town , it was the first bridge to be made on Periyar river which become role model for other bridges of Kerala.
Boating– Tourist can go for boating facility available in Periyar river and explore the city from outside.
