Places to See in Kalady

Kanjoor– Kanjoor is a small village located about 5 k from Kalady. The village is famous for Kanjoor Church and the Puthiyedam Temple. The church is located at the bank of river Periyar. The church is the major attraction fot its architectural style in Indian, Persian and Portuguese.

Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram– The Ashram is located nearby the Shri Krishna Temple. It has a spacious hall with marble statue of Sri Ramakrsihna.

Sringeri Math– The place is the Samadhi of Sri Sankara’s mother Aryamba is also located here. The place is located at the bank of river Periyar. There are two major shrines in Sringeri math one of Goddess Saradamba and other of Sri Sankaracharya.

Nayathodu Sankara Narayana Temple– Nayathodu Sankara Narayana Temple is located about 3 km from Kalady. It is believed that one day Sri Shakra worshiped Lord Shiva the deity of the temple with Vishnu Manthram and Vishnu also started to reside in same idol.

Vamanamoorthy temple – The Vamanamoorthy temple is dedicated to Vamanamoorthy, one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu. It is one of the rarest temple of it own kind that is dedicated to the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is beautifully carved and depicts the workmanship of ancient Kerala.

Crocodile Ghat- It is also known as Muthala Kadavu where Sri Shankracharya initiated his ascetic life.

St. Joseph Church– The church is famous for the celebrations of Parish Patron St. Joseph fest , on the first Sunday of May. It is located about 3 km from Kalady.
