Vypeekotta Seminary Kerala

Vypeekotta Seminary is located in North Paravur of Ernakulam District of Kerala and is a part of Muziris Heritage Site of Kerala State. It is a historic and monument site which was built by Portuguese and was a college to teach Christian priests of Malabar about the ceremonies and language to be used in Roman Catholic Churches . It is located adjacent to another heritage site The Holy Cross Church.

The Seminary in early times had various buildings in its complexes but many of them were destroyed as a result wars fought here. But still some buildings are still standing and some ruins are also present there. There is a church which is still functioning which was renovated later. The remains of the Seminary were declared as a protected monument in 1935 by Department of Archaeology, Government of Kerala. Many walls here have inscriptions in it and many were destroyed with the invasion of Tipu Sultan in 1789. It is now a Muziris Heritage site preserved by Kerala Govt.
