Ponnani

Ponnani is a tidal port a coastal village located in Malappuram District of Kerala. It is an important fishing center in the district. Ponani is is situated at the mouth of Bharathapuzha river, the second longest river of Kerala and is bounded by the Arabian Sea on the west. Ponani was a hub for trading with Arabs and Europeans in the early ages of British Colonial rule in Malabar.

The town is also called as the "Town of Mosques" there are nearly 50 mosques in the town. Bharathapuzha and Tirur River meets here and is a home to hundreds of migratory birds. Its is a great place that attracts birds watchers.

Lake Biyyam is another attraction in this town , the lake has various water sports facilities . During the time of Onam Festival Boat Races are held here which attracts thousands of tourist here. Ponnani Juma Masjid is one of the famous mosque in this town.
