Periyar National Park
The Periyar National Park is covered by the fragrant spice gardens, around the area of the park which offers a refreshing experience to the tourist. You can explore it with a good guide who elaborate the medicinal value of every spice. The bird species that you can see here include darters, kingfishers, cormorants, racket-tailed drongos and the great Malabar hornbill.

Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary
Among the 268 bird species have been recorded in the sanctuary. 134 species are listed as rare and 18 species are endemic to Western Ghats. Lesser adjutant stork, Grey-headed Fish-eagle peninsular bay owl, Broad-billed roller and Great pied hornbill, Darter, Little Cormorant, Black eagle, Black-capped kingfisher, Great Indian hornbill, and Black woodpecker.

Pampadum National Park
Some notable birds which are found here are the Nilgiri Wood-pigeon, White-bellied Shortwing, Scaly-breasted Lorikeet, Blue Rock-thrush, Blue-capped Rock-thrush and Nilgiri flycatcher, Black orange Flycatchers, Cormorants, Egrets, Nilgiri Wood-pigeon, Darters, White-bellied Shortwing and Pied kingfisher are found here.

Thattekad Bird sanctuary
Thattekad Bird sanctuary is stretched around 25sq.km peninsular land area. It is surrounded by several branches of Periyar River. You can enjoy sightseeing+ of various birds from Malabar grey hornbill to heron, myna, jungle owl, egret, wood pecker and also rare birds like rose billed roller and Ceylon frog mouth etc.
