Pullumedu

Pullumedu is a scenic village that is located in the state of Kerala and it is famous for its stunning view of hills draped in lush greenery. The famous Sree Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala and the Makara Jyothi illuminations at the shrine are visible from here. Since it is a restricted area by the authority of Forest Detp., visitors have to take permission from local Wildlife preservation Officer.

The place is located along the River Periyar and this is a perfect place for fishing and other similar activities. One can also opt for river rafting in the rapids of the river. Some of the other activities that are possible are trekking and hiking. There are various spots that are located around the place that are ideal for this.

Nearest Railway station to the village is Kottayam and Cochin is nearby airport. Accommodation is not a major issue as you can stay at the Govt. guest house or cottages nearby. The best time to visit Pullumedu is between the months of November to January.

How to Reach Pullumedu

Pullumedu is locat5ed about 43 Km form Thekkady

By Road– You can follow Ernakulam – Thekkady Rd and Anavilasam-Marykulam Road . Pullumedu can be reached via jeep only as it is located inside the restricted forest zone, and special permission is required by the Wildlife Preservation Officer.

By Train– Kottayam Railway Station is nearest.

By AirwaysCochin International Airport is the nearest airport located from here.
