Athirapally and Vazhachal Falls

Athirapally and Vazhachal Falls are one of the most famous and hotspot destinations of Kerala. Located about 60 km from Thrissur city in Athirapally in Thrissur District of Kerala. These two waterfalls are the part of Chalakkudy River situated in edge of Sholayar forest ranges in Western Ghats range. Both are just 5km apart from each other. These huge and roaring waterfalls surrounded by lush green vegetation is a captivating tourist place and attracts thousands of tourists every year. It is a beautiful and fascinating tourist destination.

Both the Waterfalls are part of Chalakuddy river which originates in the upper reaches of the Western Ghats.Various endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna can be spotted in the Athirapilly-Vazhachal area. Endangered Hornbill can be seen here. Athirapally Falls is at the height of 80 feet high is turbulent and violent while Vazhachal Fall is calm and cool. Chalakuddy river nearby it has a rich biodiversity and is beautiful place to visit. It contains 85 species of freshwater fish. Best time to visit these falls is between September to February when these falls are on there fullest.

By TrainThrissur Railway Station is the nearest railway station to it.

By Road– Both Athirapally and Vazhachal are well connected by road to Thrissur city. Tourists can easily reach here via Thrissur.
