Kowdiar Palace– The beautiful and grand palace was built in 1915 by Sree Moolam Thirunal. It is a famous tourist attraction about 17 km from Kovalam . It is not opened for public but one can enjoy the majestic view of this place from entrance gate.

Neyyar dam– Neyyar Dam is located at the foothill of western ghats about 30 km from Thiruvanathapuram. The dam was built in 1958. It is a famous picnic spot which consist of watch tower, crocodile farm, lion safari park and deer park. Boating facility are also available in the reservoir.

Varkala Beach– The beach is located about 50 km from Kovalam. Varkala is a seaside resort and spa and well known as height which mineral springs rice majestically from the cost line.

Ponmudi– located about 75 km from Kovalam it is a hill station with winding pathways and cool green, wooded environs, Ponmudi is about 915 meters above the sea level. Along with variety of beautiful mountains flowers, exotic butterflies, small rivutes , springs and the Deer park nearby, this place also has some excellent trekking trails.

Padmanabhapuram Palace– Located about 63 km from Kovalam the Seat of the erstwhile rulers of Travancore, this splendid place is situated in Thuckalai on the way to Kanyakumari. This is a well preserved wooden palace, a glorious testimony to the traditional Kerala School of Architecture. The extraordinary murals , exquisite floral carvings and the bl;ack glossy granite floor have withstood the test of time.

Sangumugham Beach– The beach is adjacent ti the airport and Veli Tourist village.

Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary – Located about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram . Main attractions of the wildife are elephants, gaurs, sloth bears.
