Kumarakom is one of the famous tourist destination located in Kottayam District of Kerala State India. It is a famous backwater tourism spot. It is set in the backdrop of the Vembanad Lake which is the largest freshwater lake in the state of Kerala.There are clusters of island villages in and around the large Vembanad Lake. It is located about 163 Km from the capital city Thiruvanantahpuram.
