Aruvikkuzhi Waterfalls: It is 18 km from Kottayam town, near Pallikathodu.It is a beautiful picnic spot where streams tinkle as they make their way through the landscape and waters roar as they cascade down the mountains from a height of 100ft.The place is surrounded by rubber plantations and the visitors can take rest under their shade.
Poonjar Palace : Poonjar Palace is located 30 kilometers at the distance of Kottayam railway station.Its building is famous for its amazing collection of royal antiques, exquisite furniture, chandeliers, palm leaf engravings, jewel boxes, a variety of lamps,sculptures of Nataraja , grain measures, statues and weapons.
Alleppey– Also known as “Venice of the East” known for its houseboats, beaches and lakes. It is situated in the Central Travancore region about 35 km from Kumarakom. The backwaters and lagoons are a wonderful spots to visit in this region.
Chottanikkara– It is village located in the outskirts of Cochin city about 32 km from Kumarakom. It is an important pilgrimage place of Kerala. Vaikom– Located about 40 Km from Kottayam , it is famous for Shiva temple called as Vaikom Mahadeva Temple.The Vaikom temple is famous for the Vaikom Ashtami, one of its main festivals, which is held in November–December.
