Thiruvizha is small town located in Cherthala Taluk of Alappuzha District of Kerala it is famous for Thiruvizha Mahadevar Temple where Lord Shiva is in Form of Lord Kalakandha which means who swallowed the poison to save the world. It is a famous temple where people seeks the blessing for purifying the devotees those are mad and have poison in their body. The poison is removed by making them vomit the poison by a special ingenious medicine.

Here the abhisheka of Lord Shiva is done by coconut water and milk. The temple opens at 5 Am Daily and the Lord is adorned with ashes and sandalwood paste. Around 8:15 the pooja is done and the medicine is given to the devotees here. In March April, there is Arattu festival in this temple.

Thiruvizha Mahadevar Temple is located in Cherthala town in Alleppey which is well connected via roads. Cherthala is well connected to Alappuzha and other nearby cities too.

By AirCochin International Airport is about 66 Km from here.

By TrainErnakulam Junction one of the major station of Kerala is located about 42 Km from here. Thiruvizha Railway Station is also located here in the town.
