Ramakalmedu is a town that is located in the mountainous regions of the state of Kerala and it is a picturesque place. The town is located in the Western Ghats and is located at a height of around 3500 feet above sea level. This mountain is named after the impressions of the feet of Lord Rama have been found on the rock surface. This legend has been mentioned in the epic Ramayana too. One can also visit frog rock, turtle rock and kuravan and kurathi – the highest twin statue of the state Kerala located in the town. The place is one of the windiest places in Asia.
Rolling green hills and the fresh mountain air make Ramakalmedu and enchanting retreat. The hilltop also offers a panoramic view of Tamil Nadu towns of Cumbum, Theni, Kombe, Thevaram, Uthamapalayam, Bodinaykannor and Vaiga. The sight is even wonderful at dusk when all these towns lighted.
Changanacherry and Madurai are the nearest railway station and airport respectively to the town. Accommodation is not a major issue as you can stay at the Govt. guest house or cottages nearby. The best time to visit Pullumedu is between the months of August to May. Wind blows at a speed around 35 km per hour at Ramakkalmedu throughout the year irrespective of the season and time.

Ramakalmedu is located about 15 km from Nedumkandam on the Munnar-Thekkady route.
By Road– For Idukki it is located about 30 km away. It can be reached traveling along State Highway 19.
By Airways– Madurai International Airport in Tamil Naidu is the nearest airport to this place about 140 km from here . Cochin International Airport is located about 190 km from here.
By Train-Changanacherry Railway Station is the nearest airport located about 90 km from Ramakalmedu.
