Idukki, and Kottayam districts borders the town in northern side, Kollam district in south and Alappuzha in west. Sabarimala the famous Hindu pilgrim centre of is situated in the Pathanamthitta district.

How to Reach Pathanamthitta

By Air– Cochin International Airport is located about 142 km from the city. Thiruvananthapuram International airport is also located at 113 km from city which is nearest to Pathanamthitta. Tourist can also reach here by airports in Chennai. Madras .

By Train– The city do not have its own Railway station . Thiruvalla railway station is is located about 30 km from the city and Chengannur railway station is 26 km away.

By Road– As a major pilgrimage destination there are various bus services both by KSRTC and private operators from various cities of Kerala as well as from other parts of country. Frequent buses are available from cities like Kottayam, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Coimbatore, Mangalore & Madurai.
