Kodanad

Kodanad is famous tourist destination in Ernakulam District of Kerala famous fro elephants and elephants . Located about 42 km from Cochin Kodanad is located along the bank of River Periyar. It is an ecotourism destination sponsered by Govt of Kerala . It is one of the largest elephant training, and rescue centers of Kerala. Earlier the captured elephants were brought here and trained but now the capturing elephant have been stopped while training center is still functioning.

Kodanad is now primarily used as a rescue training center, and houses baby elephants at their infancy and various stages of their growth. You can see here how the elephants are trained , On Monday the training center is closed and a nominal fee is to paid to enter the training center .

How to Reach Kodanad

By TrainAluva Railway Station is the main station from Kodanad about 25 Km from here . Aluva Station connects various cities of Kerala and other states

By AirCochin International Airport is the nearest airport from here about 18 Km from here . From airport you can hire taxi or move on to Perumbavoor and take buses from there to Kodanad .

By Road– Perumbavoor is the nearest town to Kodanad , from Perumbavoor you can find direct buses to here. KSRTC also have bus services to Perumbavoor and it is well connected to other town of the state.
