Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary

Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary is about 60 km away from Cochin City of Kerala State in India. This ws the first bird Sanctuary in Kerala. Salim Ali one of the nest ornithologist of India tagged it as the richest bird habitat in India. The sanctuary is a habitat for different varieties of cuckoos and a region of the sanctuary popularly called “Cuckoo Paradise” .

Thattekkad Bird Sanctuary is home to many migratory birds and many other birds.Ground Thrush, an orange-headed bird, Large-billed Leaf-warbler , Jerdon’s Nightjar, Indian Cuckoo, Darters, Cormorants Whiskered Terns ,Collared Scops Owl, Frogmouths, which are nocturnal birds, Pompadour Green Pigeon ,Yellow-browed Bulbuls are some of the bird species that can be spotted here.
