Kochi is a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast of Kerala state. Marine Drive is a picturesque place in Kochi. It is built facing the backwaters, and is a popular hangout for the local populace. Marine Drive is also an economically thriving part of the city of Kochi. Beaches

  • Cherai Beach and Fort Kochi Beach are located in Cochin city. You can swim or play water sports or beach games.
  • Chinese Fishing Nets– Famous in Cochin and very few are remaining these big fishing nets are worth seeing. They were gifted by Chinese Emperor Kubalagi to Kochi King in 14th century.

Recreational Activities

  • WonderLa Amusement Park– Located in Kakkanad, this is second largest theme park in South India. Spread over 50 acres of land with more than 50 Rides and various shows
  • Silverstorm Water Park-Contains 29 water and dry rides, a very large park and a Chinese village.
  • Water Sports-Fort Kochi beach and Cherai beach where water skis/jets and water scooters are available.
  • Go Karting @ Aiport-A short karting circuit is located at the city side of Cochin Airport, just opposite the airline complex. Regular karting competitions are held on weekends
  • Golf– Golf Lovers can play golf in the city in various golf courses like Cochin Golf & Country Club ,Cochin Golf Club, Bolgatty Island, Naval Golf Course.
  • Boating– Boating Facility are available in Vembanadu Lake here. Many guesthouses offer the trip and in the centre you can arrange it by yourself as well.There are many cruises offered by many private players as well as the Kerala State Inland Shipping Corp.

  • Museums– Museums containing paintings and epigraphy from the collections of the Travancore & Kochi royal families.There are many Museums in Cochin Hill Palace Museum, Museum of Kerala History, Indian Naval Maritime Museum, Pareekshith Thampuran Durbar Hall Art Gallery and many other museum to pay visit to.
  • Palaces-Dutch Palace opened from Sat-Thur 10AM-5PM was Constructed by the Portuguese in 1568 as a gift to Maharaja of Kochi.
  • Forts– Cochin has a rich history and was major town in ancient times. Pallipuram Fort, Chendamangalam Palace Fort, Fort Kochi and many other are here you can go for and explore the richness of these monuments.

Parks , Villages and Streets

  • Princess street– This place will take you to back in the ancient time of Kerala of authentic colonial European architecture.
  • Tourist Villages-Kumbalangi Integrated Tourism Village is India’s first eco-tourist village Here you can explore rural work styles, a specialized local paddy cultivation, canoeing in a country boat in a maze of mangrove forests or enjoying fishing or partying in rural style with locals.
  • Parks-There are parks containing children’s rides, a musical fountain and a small boating lake , great place to enjoy in the city.

Indulge in Festivals

  • Cochin Carnival– Fascinating Festival of Cochin celebrated from Dec 20-Jan 2. You can enjoy colorful rallies, fancy dress parades, regular competitions, bike races, beach games, sports, theme festivals, concerts and dances, fireworks in this big festival.
  • Thripunithura Vrishikolsavam- It is one of the grandest temple festival, which was once the royal festival of the Kochi Kingdom. The cultural attractions draw huge crowds with regular performances of Kathakali.
  • Performing arts-You can find various performing arts complexes across the city, which offers beautiful glimpse of the rich culture of Kerala. Kochi has the largest number of regular evening Kathakali theaters, offering the best insight into this traditional dance-drama art form of Kerala.
